About

I’m an actress ( SAG-AFTRA & AEA), improviser, & model, I work in both LA & NY–and I’ve got a lot of moxie, kid!

According to Urban Dictionary , my name, Marilia, means I’m a  “one of a kind female” who “makes you smile no matter when you’re talking to her.”

I specialize in comedy, so I’ve trained in both improv & sketch comedy in NYC at Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), The PIT, and Magnet Theater, and I’ve performed crazy/weird/funny stuff at all these venues. Currently, I’m in The Groundlings legendary comedy program in Los Angeles.

My love of improvising led me to create/star in my own improvised comedy web series, “Radio Stars”, about radio DJs. It’s low production value but high quirkiness. Check out & subscribe on my YouTube channel.

In the theatre world, I had the honor of re-creating the iconic role of Tina in the Off-Broadway Revival of TONY N’ TINA’S WEDDING (the longest running Off-Broadway comedy and “grandaddy of interactive theater”). I continue to play Tina in regional AEA shows (Detroit, Windsor).  Some other highlights: performing in the Off-Broadway comedy THE AWESOME 80s PROM, and improvising in ACCOMPLICE: NEW YORK, and originating the lead in the updated ACCOMPLICE: THE VILLAGE show. As a University of Michigan grad, I’m also classically trained.
